Laser Tattoo Removal Services in Santee, CA
The Medlite Q-Switched Nd: YAG uses high-intensity pulses of laser light to target the tattoo pigment. When particles of tattoo ink absorb the laser light, they are broken into tiny fragments. These fragments are then absorbed through the body’s natural cleansing mechanism.
- The laser targets pigment by using light.
- The body naturally flushes the ink particles out.
- As more of the tattoo’s pigment is broken down, the lighter the tattoo will become.
- Eventually, with treatments, the tattoo is removed completely.

HOW DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?
State-of-the-art lasers are used to direct energy at the ink in your tattoo for a fraction of a second. The laser energy passes harmlessly through the outer layer of your skin to target the tattoo ink directly. The laser fragments the ink into smaller components, which allows your body to flush and process the ink naturally.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Most tattoos will take multiple treatments for full removal. Removal is dependent on the color of the ink, the tattoo’s age, the tattoo’s location, and the overall quality of the tattoo (a professionally done tattoo vs. home-made tattoo).
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT IN BETWEEN MY TREATMENTS?
We recommend a minimum of six weeks between treatments to give you the best results. Our lasers fragment the ink in your tattoo so that your body’s immune system can finish the removal process, and this takes time. When your tattoo is exposed to laser treatments too frequently, the risk of discoloration and scarring increases rather than shortening the time of removal.
CAN I PARTIALLY REMOVE MY TATTOO FOR A COVER-UP?
Of course! Our lasers are extremely accurate. Quite often, we can lighten the tattoo enough to be covered or to remove certain areas or details of a tattoo you would like to keep.
DOES TATTOO REMOVAL HURT?
Pain varies with each individual. Tattoo removal treatments are uncomfortable but can be tolerated. Many patients say tattoo removal feels like a hot rubber band being snapped against your skin. Ice is applied to the treatment area to help minimize any discomfort from the laser. During your treatment, we use a device specifically designed to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.
